It’s not every day that you get invited to a Quentin Tarantino themed birthday party is it? Instantly the character that sprung to mind was the iconic Kill Bill Uma Thurman in her bright yellow and black jumpsuit playing the role of The Bride – codename Black Mamba. I think secretly every girl daydreams of getting all dressed up and going on a night out with friends minus the toe-crushing super high heels that leave you walking like a troubled giraffe after an hour; I’m so hyped to trade minidress ass-flashing for being a kickass assassin!
Smiffy’s has been my go-to costume store for many years now as their quality and customer service is unrivalled. I always know what I order is what I’ll actually get receive than gambling on the cheap internet shopping horrors where online pictures of glorious wedding dresses turn out to be tiny rag doll clothes.
I attended the party as the iconic Kill Bill bride featured in the films Kill Bill Vol.1 & Vol.2. This officially licensed bold yellow jumpsuit comes with a jumpsuit and sword and I teamed it with my own black converse for super comfy kickass style. Seeing as I’m already blonde I didn’t go for the wig, but instead added my own sexy twist by unzipping the jumpsuit to expose my bra and adding fake blood and slashes to my chest and hands which looked pretty cool.
The dry-clean-only jumpsuit is super comfy, incredibly well made and fashionably fitted without being hot or restrictive thanks to its soft and stretchy fabric; and let’s face it, a dagger is an hilarious accessory to have when going through club security! The zip front fastening with velcro neck and waistband allows for a beautifully skintight fit to accentuate each and every curve with equally easy access, and certainly turned heads both in and out of the club.
Being a size UK8 the size small was perfect for me and this is a fancy dress costume that I’ll keep forever – accessorising with blood and zombie makeup for halloween, wearing again as it is for fancy dress or rocking it around the house as a cool onesie; there’s never a bad day to channel your inner Uma Thurman!
