Tentatively creeping into my thirties I’ve noticed that I’ve developed quite a penchant for candles these days – something I seem to have overlooked in my youth now dominates my life! I find that every time I spot a candle section in a shop I can’t help by stroll over for a sniff, ooh’ing and ahh’ing at the delicious scents and pretty designs.
It seems I’m not alone in my love of light, as my eleven year old daughter has adorned her bedroom with possibly hundreds of pretty candles and handmade soaps. There is something so incredibly relaxing, homely, warm and loving about curling up on the sofa of an evening and lighting a candle, the lights turned down low as the glowing flicker of the flame makes everything feel so cosy. With our anniversary fast approaching I thought a personalised pillar candle would make the ideal gift for my partner Freddy.

We have a saying that is very personal and unique to us that I wanted to use for our anniversary candle. Perhaps whilst others may wish to list a special date, the title of a special occasion or to remember the place where you first met, I wanted to have something make us laugh, smile and cherish our love.
For years we have always said to each other “I don’t care what anyone says about you, I think you’re alright!” which is incredibly unique and both an insult and compliment at the same time! In a nutshell we are suggesting that each of us are such an acquired taste that and only we can (under)stand one another.
Would you believe I have never seen this quoted anywhere before! That’s what makes it so special to have our saying personalised onto a candle that we can cherish forever as a sign of our love. I was so excited to find this whilst scrolling through gift ideas online and love how personal and meaningful this gift will be for us both – I don’t think I could bring myself to ever light it!
Each candle design can be fully personalised and comes in a selection of eight different colours to choose from, so there really is something for everyone. Seeing as we have both gold and silver ornaments at home I decided upon a gold and silver combination of text for the candles and they suit our decor perfectly.
The print quality of the text is beautiful and the handmade candles come conveniently packaged in a clear wrap with a contrasting bow dressed up ready to give as a gift. I noted that the store will soon be adding a range of soy candle wedding favours too – something that I’d love to have on our big day… once my other half decides to pop the question of course!
