The Caci Facial At The Belmore Centre

I am a complete fitness freak, I love to workout and stay in shape, and since having my two children I’ve noticed my body change and as a result more effort is needed to keep trim. I’m very active as I love to walk, enrol in three month extreme fitness programs, and run around after the children day and night. It’s safe to say that I work hard to keep my body in shape and feel young, but what about my face?

Since reaching my mid twenties I’ve realised gravity and late nights are not my friend; my face has changed noticably from my teens, I have frown lines on my forehead, creeping crowsfeet around my eyes and laughter lines around my mouth. My cheekbones are no longer perky little cherries on my face but more soggy fallen plums, and my once defined jawline is gradually weathering in a soft slope into my chin and neck. Who is this impostor staring back at me in the mirror? Despite keeping excess weight at bay, my healthy diet and lifestyle has done very little to prevent the signs of ageing on my face. Which is why the Caci Facial appeals to me so much as a non-ivasive, non-surgical facelift!

The Belmore Centre Caci Facial

The Caci Facial is a workout for the face, consisting of massaging movements with the use of mild electrical currents to stimulate the facial muscles, boost blood circulation and encourage collagen in areas that are seldom worked. Fine lines, wrinkles and saggy muscles are reduced leaving the skin looking and feeling more youthful, perky, plump and smooth in appearance whilst turning back the clock. Get me to the Belmore!

Pulling into the car park of the Belmore Centre which was clearly signposted from the main Stoke Mandeville Hospital road, I was pleasantly greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff at reception before being shown to a beautiful white stone waiting area filled with beauty products, soft lighting and soothing music. A few moments later I was greeted by Lauren, my therapist, and shown to a peaceful, cosy and quiet treatment room upstairs which was furnished with beautiful white and purple materials and sumptuous soft fluffy towels. After answering a few questions about my health concerning the procedure that I was about to have, Lauren showed me to the bed where I laid down, closed my eyes and the appointment began.

Lauren started by cleansing my face to remove my makeup and any product from the skin, she blotted my skin with a paper towel to ensure it was clean and dry before applying an extra firming gel concentrate to my jaw area for conductivity. She then used a roller and a pronged device with soft cotton buds soaked in serum, to work the muscles along my jawline by plucking and squeezing them like you would a chubby baby’s face – just like using a fork and a spoon to scoop and eat spaghetti. The prongs are connected to a machine with varying settings of electrical current, which passes into the face and help to stimulate the muscles. Lauren advised that I may feel a tingling sensation or taste a metallic flavour in my mouth if I have any fillings, but with my sensitive skin and untouched teeth I didn’t feel a thing. The procedure wasn’t uncomfortable or unpleasant at all, as the cooling gel made my face feel fresh, and the scooping and holding motions were incredibly relaxing and peaceful just like having a facial. I closed my eyes and listed to the beautiful classical music around me, nestled up cosy and safe under the sumptuous towels as the cold wind and rain pattered on the windows and I totally forgot about the world.

Lauren softly talked me through each movement that she performed, and after completing her first range of ‘sausage’ shapes, she then proceeded to the second setting of intensity on the machine to contract the muscles at a faster pace whilst repeating the same moves. She used soft cotton pads to wipe away the gel, cleanse my face and blot my skin with a paper towel to remove the previous product. Lauren then switched the roller for a second pronged device and used them both like forks to stretch out and hold the muscles around my jaw and cheeks for a few seconds at a time. She concentrated on the laughter lines around my mouth before targeting the crows feet around the eyes in the same way.

Although I had my eyes closed, Lauren explained that my face was blushing red as the blood and collagen were stimulated by the procedure, showing that the procedure was working as it should. She then moved onto the lines across my forehead by dragging the soft prongs from my eyebrows right up to my hair line and holding a mild pressure for a few seconds at a time. It felt absolutely divine, and I suspect I looked a lot like my cat when I tickle his chin and he closes his eyes, as I smiled from ear to ear. The Caci Facial is an incredibly relaxing experience that invigorates the face and works the soft tissue and muscles we seldom use, much like a good morning stretch, the aches and tiredness just melt away.

Lauren then applied face pads which were wired to the machine to contract key muscles in a concentrated area where my cheeks meet my nose, as she explained it’s an area that isn’t usually worked and whilst doing this she could attend to the fine lines around my mouth. Again I didn’t feel any tingling or sensation from the face pads, and it was no different to having a gel pad placed on my face, as it wasn’t sticky or harsh like a plaster, but more cooling and smooth on the skin.

Next Lauren applied soothing eye gel so that a feathering motion could be performed around my eyes by circling the prongs which helped the gel to penetrate into the skin and stimulate the muscles in and around my eye sockets. The cool gel quenched the dry, warm skin around my eyes, and the circular massaging motions from the glossy cotton buds lifted away the tension and tiredness with every delicate stroke. Lauren explained that whatever you do on one side of the face must be matched equally on the other side in order to keep the results even. She then applied a hydrating moisturiser across my face and neck and worked it in with the prongs. The electrical current helps the product to penetrate into the skin and prepare the neck for treatment, as in future, once the face is toned enough to match, the neck can begin treatment at around the eighth session.

Finally the machine was turned up to the third intensity and the process repeated to help the muscles to contract quicker, before finishing with a hands on facial massage to rub in any final product. I have no idea how I managed to open my eyes at the end as I was so relaxed and peaceful, it was as if I’d slept for a thousand years and my face felt incredibly soft and plum to the touch instead of dry, limp and hollow.

Lauren advised that I would need to repeat the treatment three times in the first week, each a day apart, before reducing the treatment to once every six weeks for maintenance over a course of ten. There are three groups of intensities; stages 1-3, 4-7, and finally +8 which is increased in stages with each treatment that you have, allowing the facial muscles to build a good foundation and rebuild their strength whilst firming up lost muscle tone. Younger muscles respond quicker to treatment and results are seen immediately, so it’s best to start when you reach your mid-twenties in order to prevent muscle loss from happening, as keeping the muscles maintained is far easier than treating sagging, wrinkled and lose skin in years to come with a costly and painful facelift or filler and botox injections. This procedure works on all ages and skin types and is incredibly beneficial if maintained, just as you would a gym membership. It works over a period of time to establish and rebuild muscle tone for a natural facelift without surgery with long lasting anti-ageing effects.

After just one treatment within the 1-3 level of intensity I immediately noticed a huge difference. My hollowed and loose cheeks were more plump, soft and healthy looking; and the definition around my mouth through several laughter lines are now more contoured, lifted and smooth. I no longer have the constant fine frown lines on my forehead and my eyes don’t look as tired and sagging, my whole face and jawline feels more tight and tort, and the resultant stimulated blood and collagen has given my skin a healthy, soft and smooth natural appearance.

The results have absolutely blown me away and were more than I would have ever expected from just one treatment. The Caci Facial is that one step up from using a good quality anti-ageing face cream, but still a million miles away from injections, fillers and cosmetic surgery. It is a wonderful pain-free beauty treatment with long lasting effects if maintained regularly, just as you would your hair, nails or gym membership. At the age of twenty-six I thought I would be too young to notice a difference to my mild fine lines and wrinkles, but I am amazed to see my face looking like it did as a teenager. I never realised I’d aged so gradually over the years until I looked at my before and after pictures that I took on my iphone and looked in the mirror to see the imperfections ironed out and replumped.

This is a beauty discovery and a half for me and something that I will work into my regular beauty regime in order to keep my face looking as youthful and toned as my body. Goodbye bags, lines, wrinkles, jowls and a double-chin, hello nineteen-eighty-seven! There are gift vouchers available to treat that special someone, and they make a great birthday gift, Christmas present or special occasion preparation.

  • Hi there. Many thanks for all your blogs. I feel like I’ve spent most the weekend reading a varitey of them, they are that informative! How much did the treatment cost? Many thanks again 🙂 x

    • I’m glad you’ve enjoyed reading Zoe, it all depends on which treatment you go for, if you book a course or just have a one-off and what extent is needed. It’s very much an individual thing and I’m sure if you speak to a member of the staff they will be able to advise of treatment and costs to suit your requirements.
