Forever Living Aloe Heat Lotion
I have never used a deep heat lotion before, although I’ve smelt it on friends and family during times when they’ve hurt a muscle as it’s a fairly distinguished clinical scent that you know immediately what it is. I do a lot of exercise and have aching muscles on a daily basis, and as I’ve also got my period now my lower back and stomach are aching, cramping and feel awful. To combat my stomach cramps I often use a hot water bottle wrapped in a tea towel and take some painkillers whilst trying to rest up, but with a busy family to look after and no handsfree to attach a water bottle to me, it makes it near on impossible to rest up with a period. I also tend to burn my skin from the heat of the water as my stomach ends up mottled red and patchy for up to a day after using it where I’ve used boiling water to try and penetrate through to my muscles and ease some of the discomfort. When I do get to lay down in bed with my hot water bottle it soothes me momentarily until I roll onto my side for comfort and have to constantly manoeuvre and readjust my hug on the bottle until it gradually goes cold and I have to get up and change it. Taking paracetamol to ease the pain leaves me with a headache more often than not, and it’s a time when I generally feel rubbish, delicate, tender and irritated, so to have an alternative remedy is a welcome light in the dark.
Squeezing the cool thick white Aloe Heat Lotion onto my fingers I was instantly greeted by the unmistakable smell of deep-heat, it has that sharp, woody, menthol-citrus pang that instantly makes you think of injuries. It certainly lived up to my expectations of a deep-heat agent so far, but on contact with the skin it didn’t feel warm at all. Lifting my shirt I massaged it in a circular motion onto the base of my spine and the back of my hips and then the magic happened. Not only did it soothe and moisturise my skin as I rubbed it in, but I began to feel it penetrate into my muscles. It isn’t a hot heat like a water bottle, it doesn’t feel warm or burn even, but it certainly does the trick. It’s like a reassuring hug that takes the part of your body that aches and strains and holds it firm and secure and keeps it safe. I feel as though I have my hands wrapped around my lower back, easing the ache and massaging into my muscles and it’s beautiful. I no longer feel tender but refreshingly supported and relieved. It’s as if I’ve had a new body part fitted that feels fresh and new instead of heavy, weak and depleted.
It has managed to take away both the need for a hot water bottle and painkillers leaving me able to go about my day with a monstrous period that would have otherwise crippled me. It’s a massive plus point for me that the ingredients are so natural, that it also takes care of the skin with its moisturising qualities and that such a small amount of lotion goes such a far way. It has left me handsfree and happily soothed as well as taking the ache out of my calves from doing jump squats so that I can walk up the stairs without wincing. What a fantastic product that does exactly what it claims!
