Having such a hectic calendar does nothing for my ability to be glamourous, and if anything I’d go as far as to say that I’m one of the most unglamorous single parents that I know. I’m either dripping in sweat and wrapped in leggings at the gym or throwing my face into my laptop between cooking, cleaning and walking the children to school so hair and makeup is the least of my priorities or expertise which is why Hayley Gibson is an absolute godsend!

For my 29th birthday weekend I somehow managed to double book a fitness photoshoot during the day followed by VIP party in Essex in the evening. Hayley is sensational at flawless, sophisticated and elegant makeup that has thus far served me well for a London film premiere and beauty awards but this time my brief was a little different, this time I needed to look ESSEX! Big hair, big eyes, bold lips, loud, proud and sassy yet something I would still feel comfortable with.
We agreed on big eyes with smokey lids, sharp liner and false eyelashes. I never usually wear false lashes because I find them very heavy which makes me blink like I’m in a sandstorm, but these were so light, gentle and natural looking that I happily wore them all day and night without feeling them at all. With a soft powder brow and flawless foundation Hayley defined my features perfectly, evened out my combination skin and tone and put a juicy red gloss on my lips that was bold but delicate.

As always my flat thin hair looks so much better when it’s got some volume to it for which Hayley added soft curls and sprayed them into place for me to ruffle up and fluff with my fingers as the day went on. My makeup remained pristine and vibrant from 11am when it was applied, through a 4hr photoshoot rolling around on a gym floor and punching bags to partying the night away until 3am the following morning after several triple vodkas and a falafel kebab! If I’d have tried to do my own makeup I would’ve undoubtedly looked like a panda after just a few hours and constantly needed retouching; it goes to show how a professional makeup artist and quality products can create such stunningly unrivalled results.
