Just Eat Papa John’s Pizza Aylesbury

Now it’s not often that I order a takeaway, as being a somewhat fussy vegetarian I usually find that my taste and preference is best suited to the foods that I make at home. In my kitchen I know that no meat, fish or egg has contaminated my food, I know exactly what ingredients are used and I can freshly prepare my meals as and when I require them. However when I received a £20.00 voucher for a meal with Just Eat I had no reason not to give it a go.

Just Eat is an online directory of restaurants and takeaways providing quick meals directly to your doorstep, wether it’s the end of a busy day and you simply don’t have the time to cook, or maybe you’re having a sofa Sunday and fancy a tasty treat with the family; you can type in your postcode and instantly see all of the takeaways who deliver in your area. You can also search by cuisine, from Chinese and Indian to pizza or a good old fish and chips. For my first experience of using Just Eat I decided to order a pizza from my local Papa John’s. Being a vegetarian I chose The Greek pizza in a size XXL with a thin crust for £18.99 topped with feta cheese, red onions, fresh tomatoes, black olives, sliced pepperoncini and oregano sprinkle which was rated as hot. I also added a side of potato wedges with a garlic and herb dip for £2.99, and the delivery charge was an additional £1.00 taking the total to £22.98.

You can schedule what time you’d like your takeaway to arrive for, which is a great idea if you’re on your way home or taking a soak in the bath tub. As I was rather hungry I selected the ‘ASAP’ option because I wanted to eat as soon as possible. I was also able to leave notes for the delivery driver to make my house easier to find, for which I named the new build establishment that I live on which isn’t part of my postal address of a road name and main village. I also left my mobile number and email.

61 minutes after my order was placed the doorbell rang and my food arrived, with the delivery driver immediately apologising for it taking so long as he said they were having a very busy Sunday evening which was perfectly understandable. The pizza was huge and immediately filled my lounge with the delicious aroma of tomatoes, sweet peppers and feta cheese. The base was thin and crisp, packed with flavour from the fresh and juicy topping without being soggy, greasy or floppy like a traditional pizza that has been left to stand. Due to its size the thin base made it incredibly appetising to eat, as it was light and refreshing instead of heavy and stodgy. I simply love greek food and rarely see it as a pizza option, and the feta was rich, crumbly and made a fabulous change to mozzarella.

The seasoned wedges were thick-cut, crunchy-skinned and moreishly fluffy inside, which teamed with the cool garlic and herb dip left me ooh’ing and ahh’ing with each bite as I tore them in half and watched the steam bellow out. Sometimes it’s nice to give the cooking a break and let somebody else do the dishes for once, and I have to say that although I’m not one for having regular takeaways I really enjoyed my pizza and wedges and it was a lovely XXL-sized treat.
