As a domestic abuse victim I spent the majority of my late teens to mid twenties lost and a shell of myself, my life meaningless and my identity forgotten as it was all about pleasing somebody else in all that they selfishly wanted for which they were never happy. Escaping that relationship was the scariest and most hurtful yet beautiful freedom I’ve ever experienced and finding my voice for the first time, having an opinion of my own and making choices about my life to do what pleased me was such a new and alien thing to me. It was like learning life over again, taking baby steps to speak up and stand by my own words and actions - no more being told what to do or how to dress and where to be. I was a caged bird free but with broken wings. Gradually I healed, held my head high and found my place in the world - at first I was criticised for everything I did, nobody could accept the “new me” and how “different” I was, but it was simply the first time that I was free to make my own choices and be myself. As I became confident my followers on social media grew and any criticism stopped bothering me because the praise I received for being real and refreshingly honest made every step to freedom more than worth it. We all have battles to fight and lessons to learn which make us who we are my darlings - never take a step backwards if people fail to see you for who you are. Life is about moving forwards and finding yourself, leave others to their own timeline of progression and focus on yours, we’ll all end up at the same destination one day 🙏🏼 ------------------------
