How many times have we scrolled through our feeds, filled a virtual shopping basket with dozens of affordable, ultra-trendy pieces, and then worn them maybe once for a quick selfie or gathering, only for them to end up forgotten about and unloved at the back of the wardrobe?

For years, the fashion industry has whispered a toxic little lie into our ears, that style has an expiration date, that we need to constantly reinvent our looks every season, and that looking good has to cost the Earth. But as I dive deeper into my own journey with fashion, modelling, and content creation, one thing has become glaringly obvious to me – the fast fashion bubble has finally burst, and it’s time to clean up the mess!

As someone blessed with a platform, a camera, and a community of incredible humans who actually listen, I’ve realised that being a model and influencer isn’t just about showing off what looks pretty. It carries a profound responsibility too. As our voices, our reach, and our social media feeds are powerful tools for change. We can either use them to blindly fuel a destructive throwaway culture, or we can channel them into positive change, awareness and sustainability for future generations to come.
I choose the latter. And I invite you to walk that path right beside me.

Stepping Beyond the Trends with Baukjen
If we want to change the industry, we first have to support the brands that are already rewriting the rules. One incredible trailblazer that is leading that charge right now is Baukjen.
If you haven’t seen their collections yet, get ready to fall in love, as they bring effortless, chic, Parisian-inspired staples to wardrobes worldwide. Certified B Corp Excellence, they aren’t just greenwashing like other brands, but are legally bound to put people and the planet right alongside their profits, and are consistently ranking as one of the highest-scoring fashion B Corps globally.

While most brands scramble for net-zero, Baukjen actually removes more carbon from the atmosphere than their entire supply chain produces to be carbon-negative. And their entire ranges are trend-immune, forever pieces, with their tailoring, organic cotton tees, and luxury jackets thoughtfully designed to be worn, loved, repaired, and cherished for years to come, not weeks.
With less than 10% of their operational waste hitting landfills, their responsibly sourced organic materials, and fair living wages in safe European factories, treat both garment makers and Mother Nature with absolute respect through zero waste and ethical production.
From their 100% plastic-free, biodegradable packaging to rental and pre-loved schemes, they’ve mapped out a holistic approach to keep sustainable fashion out of the rubbish bin. Brands like Baukjen prove that we don’t have to sacrifice elegance, quality, or glamour to protect our planet, as they make mindful dressing feel like an absolute joy.

Why Our Voices Matter
It’s easy to look at global issues like the fashion industry, which accounts for roughly 10% of global carbon emissions, and think, “Ugh, what can little old me do about it?” Well, everything actually. Because everything changes when we speak up!
Every single time that we choose to post about ethical manufacturing instead of the latest haul from a hyper-fast retailer; every time that we proudly repeat an outfit on our grid; every time that we vote with our paychecks, we are sending a seismic shockwave through the corporate world. Fast-fashion giants only thrive because we choose to look away from the damage and destruction that they cause. But when influencers, models, and everyday fashion lovers alike use their digital footprint to demand transparency, accountability, and sustainability, well the industry has to listen.

We have the power to redefine what cool actually means, as true style isn’t about wearing something new every single day, but wearing your values on your sleeve. It’s about longevity, confidence, kindness and knowing that your outfit didn’t cost a worker their livelihood or an ocean its marine life.
Let’s Build a Better Wardrobe Together
Let’s make a pact moving forward, please, to slow down. Let’s ask thise hard questions: Who made my clothes? What are they made of? Will I love this next year as much as I do today? And use our platforms to uplift ethical pioneers like Baukjen, celebrate sustainable style, and lift the lid on a cleaner, fairer future for fashion and humanity alike.
