Knee deep in internet scrolling, I found myself a woman on a mission to begin my Christmas shopping mid-October – I blame my OCD! There’s just something wonderfully reassuring about having the biggest event of the year taken care of months in advance with my pretty golden gift-wrapped goodies lined up like soldiers in the bedroom, fully prepared and stress-free for the big day.
I’m a lover of all things quirky, unique, personalised and personally meaningful, which is why I prepare for special occasions months in advance to ensure delivery times, deadlines and handmade items arrive well ahead of time. Whilst browsing for personalised gifts in an evenings glorious bubble bath I came across Scribbled Squirrel and what a joy it was!
Seemingly a quirky, energetic and wonderfully unique family-business, I couldn’t resist clicking on the our story section of their website as images of unique gifts, jewellery and mementos lit up my screen. It became apparent that Scribbled Squirrel was born of a parents love for their darling child’s artistic traits and they set upon turning preschool handwriting and scrap-paper drawings into personalised art and gifts to treasure forever.
Whilst I’ve heard of some parents bravely having their children’s first words or drawings inked onto their arms and legs as tattoos – not something that I would do however much I love my babies – I never thought of using the same content to create jewellery and art – how fab and far less painful than getting a tattoo!
Seeing as I was shopping for a gift for my boyfriend at the time, when I stumbled upon their personalised wall art I knew exactly what to capture in a frame! With examples of baby’s first heartbeat, children’s doodles and handwriting, family portraits and relationship journeys commemorated it made perfect sense to have our matching tattoo turned into wall art.
Personalised with your choice of textures and colours, £1 from every Heart Trace Wall Art is donated to the charity Little Hearts Matter to support children with congenial heart conditions. Their fully customisable store allows you to select the graphics, frame and background colour as well as add your own four lines of text and choose its positioning.
To personalise your art you simply need to take a picture on your phone of what you’d like to recreate and upload it at the checkout. I took a snap of the matching heartbeat tattoo that my boyfriend and I have on the inside of our arms and uploaded it in just a couple of clicks.
Within a few days of placing my order the gift-wrapped wall art arrived and I’m absolutely thrilled with how wonderfully unique and personal it is to us both! I chose a sparkly pearlescent background with black text and a black frame to match the lounge and it looks beautiful as it twinkles in the light from every angle.
If you’re looking for something thoughtfully handmade for yourself or a loved one then I’d highly recommend you try personalising wall art; you can also use code “Kiss10” at the checkout this November to receive 10% off all orders over £10 – happy shopping!
