Finding Calm In Your Day With A Chaos Management App

If you’re anything like me, a single parent, business owner, and someone who navigates life with autism and combined-type ADHD, then you’ll know that the busy mind is a very real, very loud place to be. Some days, my brain literally feels like a browser with 500 tabs open, and endless thoughts never seem to turn off.

Between working, keeping up with the children, tending to my home and navigating my way through infinite to-do’s, the overstimulation of life can feel constant. I’ve spent years trying to find a system that doesn’t add even more clutter to my life, when I simply require something that understands the way that my brain actually works.

Enter NoPlex. It’s less like an app and more like a gentle, organised friend who knows exactly what I need before I even ask for it. So let’s take a look at why it’s become such a hit for neurodivergent minds…

Most productivity apps are actually built for neurotypical brains that seem to move in a straight, logical line. But I’m fully aware that my day is far from linear, so NoPlex has been a game-changer for my hyperfocus due to its key features and strategies for productivity.

First of all, its Horizon View shows you what you’ve decided to focus on today, rather than a massive list of everything at once that can feel overwhelming and distressing. Rather than the bigger picture, you can access bite-sized chunks of tasks which has proven to be a total noise-canceling feature for my brain, as the less distracting thoughts that I have, the easier it becomes for me to focus on one thing at a time.

One of the worst parts of having ADHD for me is the guilt that I feel when I don’t finish a task and have to walk away from it. This app doesn’t punish you for missing out a deadline, but instead helps you to carry things over, which keeps the momentum going without the heavy hit of shame, something that is so crucial for keeping motivation alive.

Being a single parent is a juggling act for time and priorities, and sometimes I just can’t do it all by myself. NoPlex very thoughtfully lets you tag in a Supporter, which can be a partner, friend, or family member who can see exactly what you need help with and when. To be able to delegate these small tasks to those you feel most comfortable with, without having to explain the whole context behind it, is such a relief during hectic days or when feeling overstimulated and overwhelmed.

Through their Routines and Plexies, I also don’t have to waste brainpower by remembering to do the boring, recurring stuff like booking the dentist or renewing the car tax. It does all of the remembering for me, so I can save my focus for the big and creative things instead, knowing that I won’t forget anything.

Streamlining Chaos

You don’t need to be a business owner or a parent to feel the weight of a busy day. I truly think anyone who feels like they’re drowning in to-do list anxiety would get so much out of this app.

We don’t need a perfectly colour coded calendar or thousands of sticky notes to be effective, just a system that feels natural and calming. Organisation shouldn’t feel like work to maintain, and we shouldn’t be focusing on our entire week ahead when Monday morning already feels like a mountain to overcome.

Having a way to hide the non-essential tasks allows us to redirect our full attention and energy to the now which is so much more mindful. And I’ve great security in knowing the do-it-later things won’t get forgotten about or overlooked when my attention is focused elsewhere.

We often think that success is doing everything alone, but it’s really not. Finding an app, or person, who can provide a little accountability whilst taking some of the stress off of your plate is a massive act of self-care. It’s been so refreshing for me to use a tool that doesn’t treat my ADHD as a problem to be solved, but rather a way of thinking that just needs a little bit of support.

Ultimately, we’re all just trying to keep the chaos at bay so that we can fully enjoy our day-to-day life. If finding a better way to organise our tasks helps us to be a more present employee, parent, partner or person then it’s a win that increases our quality of life and deserves to be celebrated.
