Girl’s we all know about those stray hairs, it’s ok, it’s what makes us human! So I worked out after a breast reconstruction to restore my strength, stamina and self-worth by tending to my Mummified locks and worn out body with some TLC which resulted from raising two beautiful and energetic children alone.

I stopped taking my pain relief so that I didn’t drift in and out of consciousness anymore, and I woke up and smelt the coffee so to speak. Instead of venturing myself to the bathroom and back I made it my aim to get down the stairs and out into the sunlight of the morning in the garden where I closed my eyes, wiped away my tears and listened to the world, just sitting, breathing and feeling the pain of my heart and healing body, and the pain made me realise I was still alive. From that moment I vowed not to lose my life to the hurt inside of me, but to take this as a lesson learnt, to ensure it would never happen to me again and to become a better person because of it. I didn’t make excuses or have pity on myself, I got back up and earned my own results, as just months after my surgery I formed my first six pack with a gruelling bodybuilding routine. I realised that from the darkest time in my life the greatest light could shine, and day by day I earned my transition from a shaky lamb to a fearless lion. I caught spiders, emptied the bins, sawed logs in the garden, went snowboarding, clay pigeon shooting, learnt to ride a motorbike, conquered my fear of drowning by throwing myself off of a speed boat and accepted my physical imperfections for what they are, whilst raising my two children and rebuilding my trust for humanity. From all of the sadness and pain I’d made it out the other side and had a second chance in life, the opportunity to rebuild my family and carry on as a positive role model for my children. I wanted to show them that no matter what life throws at you you can deal with it all and then some, just one baby step at a time. Every dream is possible because hard work and determination eventually pays off, and no matter what path my children take in life I will always be there with them, proudly holding their hand, supporting, loving and being their rock. There is absolutely no greater gift than life.
