Nyla Rose is a family run gifts and interiors company based in Lancashire, borne of a dream by owner Natalie to run her own business after having her daughter Nyla Rose in September 2012. On their adorable site you will find brands such as Sass and Belle, Heaven Sends, Bombay Duck and East of India and anything from quirky bird hooks for your keys, to gorgeous 1950′s dresses and petticoats. It is a pure treasure trove that I simply adore browsing through. And the baby’s nursery items and retro toys are divine! I have been looking for a unique smart and sophisticated dress to wear to a fashion event and fell in love at first sight with the beautiful Lindy Bop Marcia Cafe Au Lait Wiggle Dress.
Here I am wearing a UK8 in tan and it is very generously sized, as it doesn’t suck me in, pinch or bulge at all. It is made from 97% cotton and 3% elastane making it very comfortable to wear, with a nice little stretch to the skirt so that you don’t have to waddle like a penguin when you walk. The bodice is lined and fastens with a zip from the small of the back all the way up to the collar, finished with decorative buttons to the front.
I have to say that I feel very proper in this dress, almost like an officers wife at war time. The high collar is adorable and the cut and fit is simply flawless. It skims my figure in all of the right places and I can absolutely see why it’s known as the ‘wiggle dress’ as you can’t help but walk with a smile on your face and a wiggle in your hips when wearing it. The peplum frill to the middle of the dress adds a very cutesy and smart finish, slimming down the figure and accentuating the waist. There is also a removable black belt that slots through two loop holes, one on either side of the dress, and it sets off the gorgeous tan colour perfectly.
I’m wearing this to a fashion event with a pair of black heels and a black patent clutch and I just know that it will turn heads. It’s ladylike yet sassy, formal yet flirty and effortlessly glamourous. For just £36.00 from Nyla Rose, I think I’ve found a new love for the 1950’s!
