Ozeri Touch II Total Body Scale

When I began my fitness journey to tone up and lose weight the first thing I did was abandon my traditional bathroom scales, as it’s little secret that the weight of our body isn’t based only on the amount of excess fat that we carry but water, muscles and tissue too. And with muscle weighing more than fat, the only possible and accurate use I had for my old bathroom scales was weighing my suitcase before going on holiday. Thanks to the Ozeri Touch II Total Body Scale I can measure my body composition accurately and monitor my weightloss and muscle gain at the touch of a button.

The high quality black tempered glass scale is four times stronger than traditional glass and uses advanced bioelectrical impedance analysis to precisely calculate body weight, fat, hydration, muscle and bone mass within seconds; making this scale perfect for tracking my bodybuilding progress and far more accurate than measuring my body based purely on weight.

The scale features a built in memory of up to eight individual user profiles to keep track of progress, where you can log your gender, height and age before displaying your fat, water, muscle and bone measurements. The scale activates by stepping onto it with no on or off switch, and it turns off automatically when not in use to conserve energy. There is also a tare button allowing you to weight yourself first and then pick up a child, pet or luggage to measure the exact weight of just the object that you are holding which is ideal for pets who refuse to sit still, or objects that are awkward to balance or contain.

There are four touch sensitive buttons, illuminated icons and a clear digital display for quick and easy use, and a switch under the scale to change between kilograms, pounds and stones depending on your preference. The scale conveniently comes with 2x CR2032 silver coin batteries included for which I removed the plastic insulation strip before my first use. To use the scale I simply remove my socks and step onto the sensors which are four silver circles spaced evenly to touch the heel and toe of each foot. Within seconds my weight is recorded followed shortly by my fat, water, muscle and bone with a capacity of 31stones.

The instruction manual comes complete with everything you need to know about using the scale, as well as body ratio charts so that you can measure your readings against the healthy guidelines for your age and gender. I first input my information as female, 5ft8″ tall and 27 years of age for which my weight was recorded as 9st 11.6lbs or 137.6lbs. The manual advises that water can account for over half of your total weight and lean body mass and is vital to a healthy cell function and regulating body temperature. The scale read my water ratio as 58.4% which is indicated as a high level of hydration and shows that I am consuming a healthy level of water in my diet.

Next my body muscle measured in at 39.2% with anything above 34% being classed as healthy. It states that a healthy weightloss and exercise plan should be used to maintain muscle mass whilst losing body fat, and I’m pretty happy with these results. My bone ration measured at 4.8lbs which reads as normal for a persons weight of 132.3lbs, yet I’m 5lbs over this but have a feeling my breast implants contribute greatly to my weight, as for a person over 132.3lbs the bone ratio should be around 5.5lbs, so I’m pleased to see that I’m within a healthy guideline.

Finally my body fat ratio measured at 19.2% with a measurement of under 21% being classed as underweight. Considering I am bodybuilding at the moment this is a percentage that I am happy with but looking to reduce to around 12% in order to achieve a six pack. My body is thick, strong and muscular, and when I don’t workout my weight normally drops to around 8st7lbs or 119lbs so there’s a big difference in the scales, but size wise I look very much the same. It’s fascinating to be able to track my fitness progress accurately and this is one set of scales that I will certainly use for more than just weighing my suitcase.
