My Boudoir Photoshoot At All People Photography, Waddesdon

Driving through the idyllic, picturesque village of Waddesdon I pulled onto the driveway of a beautiful mid-terraced cottage situated along the high street. Peter and Michelle of All People Photography pleasantly greeted me at the sleek and modernly immaculate reception; the white walls beautifully illuminated by strategically positioned spotlights, showcasing their finest pieces of photography. Beautiful wooden frames and stunning portraits stole my attention upward and around the room at every glance and I couldn’t help but ooh and ahh over the heartfelt and striking pieces all around me.

I had arrived today with a small roller suitcase ready for a boudoir shoot that was to take place on location at The Five Arrows hotel which proudly houses one of the finest collections of French decorative arts in the world, and happens to be directly across the street. With the use of the fabulous indoor studio, picturesque outdoor setting and local architectural venues to capture your imagination, they are able to offer a huge range of expertise to deliver something unique and memorable to everyone everywhere.

After stopping for a little chat whilst having my hair and makeup done, Peter and Michelle talked me through the images that I would like to create and what I should expect from the photo shoot. When I was eighteen I used to be a glamour model, but fast forward eight years and I now have two children and haven’t been in front of a camera in years. I would love to capture the elegance and timeless beauty of a boudoir shoot, which involves soft lighting and accenting the curves of the body whilst being delicate, feminine and far more reserved than just posing in a bikini. It is an almost natural and innocent beauty with a subtle hint of sexuality, and not something you could create in a stark white studio. Thank goodness for All People Photography!

Entering the gorgeous hotel room of the Five Arrows, I was instantly struck by the stunning four poster bed, beautiful french linen and dreamy drapery lit by soft lamps. As Michelle and Peter set up their tripods and cameras I took my case to the bathroom to try on a set of underwear for the first change. I’d asked for both Peter and Michelle to take pictures as they both had such great ideas and style of shooting that I just couldn’t decide between them. It is so rare to find a female photographer and it put me at ease that Michelle is incredibly professional and welcoming to talk to, so when I stepped out in my underwear and pearls I felt reassured and excited. I can’t say I’d often be around people in my underwear, let alone with a camera in a hotel room, and I’d been a little nervous before coming as I’ve had two children and my body is far from perfect, but the nerves instantly melted away as soon as we started shooting and I had the most amazing time.

Peter and Michelle gave great direction in demonstrating how and where to sit, the right angle to turn my head and where to place my eyeline. They showed me where to rest my hands, how to point my toes and when to smile or look away and it took away that awkwardness of not knowing what to do, as if people just point a camera in my face and say ‘smile’ I feel so self-conscious and unprepared and end up pulling an awkward half smile. With boudoir photography it is very graceful and almost shy, as you seldom look at the camera, more focusing on looking dreamy and thoughtful whilst posing in beautiful shapes and positions under soft natural lighting which is very flattering.

After changing into a few different outfits and sitting, standing and draping myself around the room and furniture, the session came to an end and I loved every minute of it. I felt both empowered and relaxed like a cat that had been sunbathing on a window ledge all afternoon. There was no rush nor hurry, just click after click of peaceful and thoughtful poses until it was time to finish. I was surprised at how much we’d covered as I’d changed a fair few times and used each area of the room.

Peter and Michelle are a fantastic team of true professionals and they made my photo shoot so incredibly enjoyable that I can’t wait to come back again! A picture speaks a thousand words and captures life in such an exquisite way that the magic is almost lost on camera phones these days. To have that one breathtaking piece is just priceless and I shall be sending friends and family gift vouchers for Christmas and birthdays to give them their very own memories that will last a lifetime. After my lovely photo shoot I headed home for the afternoon with some fabulous hair and makeup, feeling a million dollars and walking just that little bit taller with the biggest smile on my face.
