Several years ago I attended the Henley College as an enthusiastic English student and gained a fondness for Henley-Upon-Thames, it’s quaint history and fantastic Regatta. So when Calum Best opened his new business venture BstLfe The Gym in Henley and invited me to come for a visit I simply couldn’t resist.
Situated across the road from the Henley Business School BstLfe The Gym is set in the idyllic surroundings of rolling green countryside and village pubs; a million miles away from the hectic London party lifestyle that we have come to associate Calum with. He describes this space as a getaway with plenty of fresh air and positivity towards health and fitness, a welcome retreat after years of partying. And as he proudly showed me around the space it was clear to see just how much this year long project means to him; a former basketball court in the 1970’s Calum has breathed new life into the space with fresh white walls, vaulted ceilings, top of the range fitness equipment and the iconic BstLfe logo with a chic and fashionable black statement wall.
Beginning the BstLfe brand with a range of supplements he then moved into clothing before setting up his first gym with the guidance of his fitness guru mother Angie who has her own metaphysics gym just a few minutes away and celebrates forty years in the fitness industry. Calum aims to turn BstLfe the gym into a franchise to take his brand of lifestyle, health, fitness and clothing across the country. With memberships costing £40.00 per month and day passes at just £10.00 there is something for every ability, age and aim with the gym loaded with specialist equipment shipped over from America. BstLfe proudly boasts plate loaded Nautilus equipment, free weight platforms, a dedicated boxing zone, spinning studio, stretching zone as well as personal training and fitness classes including mixed martial arts, yoga and Zumba.

With a whole host of celebrity pals, Calum frequently brings his friends down to join him for a workout session as he commutes to the gym from his home in London every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a hands-on approach to his ever expanding business. Upon my visit I had the pleasure of meeting Love Island’s Chris Baxter and pro bikini athlete Imogen Parfitt as they honed and toned their bodies for the summer and upcoming competitions. But you don’t have to be a bodybuilder to have a membership here as the doors are open to all and I’d recommend you get your best selfie, autograph book and a bucket of cold water ready for when you meet Calum over the barbells, wow; a true gentleman and inspiration.
