Bodypower Expo at the NEC Birmingham is by far my most favourite event of the year. Packed full of fit, enthusiastic, active, fashionable, fun and adventurous individuals from all across the country, and world, the who’s-who of the fitness industry come together under one gigantic roof to get pumped; and this year was Bodypower’s 10th Anniversary which was Vegas themed!
This is my fourth year in attendance and each and every year it just gets bigger and better – I didn’t think it was possible but it is! Not only are there hundreds of exciting brands, athletes and famous faces but there are plenty of giveaways, samples, information and advice to suit all levels of fitness, diets and interests. As a vegan I’m loving how much more organic, natural, plant-based supplements and food stalls are popping up year on year and it’s a great indication of how important nutrition is within a healthy balanced lifestyle.
This year saw the launch of Muscle & Fitness Hers Magazine, the UK debut of the American super nova publication, and I was incredibly humbled to write a four page spread for the magazine focusing on the uptake in veganism and sharing some of my favourite recipes. Muscle & Fitness Hers Magazine is targeted at women and therefore is packed with tips and trips to get your pre-pregnancy body back after having babies, how to grow the perfect booty and key points on getting stage ready. Valuable and inspirational information in what once was a male dominated industry.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say I love shopping, and Bodypower is the epicentre of all things fitness from protein shakes and supplements, clothing, shakers, snacks, meal prep, fitness equipment, study courses, drinks and everything in between. For anybody looking to compete there are also posing coaches, nutritionists, bikini designers, fake tan, teeth whitening and photographers – the show always has discounts, deals and giveaways from leading fitness brands and those that have newly launched and I love seeing old faces every year as well as welcoming the newbies. It’s a big happy fitness family!
With fitness challenges, strong man shows, statues, props, celebrities and world famous athletes there is plenty of opportunity to catch some iconic selfies for the gram and by the end of it you’re guaranteed to have face ache from smiling, arm ache from carrying all your cool goodies and leg ache from walking around the humongous arena – I call that a total body workout!
