Bodypower Expo 2016 At The Birmingham NEC

Bodypower 2016 was a weekend of absolutely epic proportion for the worlds largest indoor fitness event. Situated in the Birmingham NEC Arena the show hosts a wealth of information, attire and activities for every level of fitness enthusiast from the occasional gym-goer to competing athletes and all else in-between. This year was my second time at Bodypower and the show continues to grow in size and performance year on year.

A whopping 91,000 visitors attended the event attracted by the fitness elite including athletes such as Paige Hathaway, Michelle Lewin, Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Steve Cook and Ronnie Coleman who take to the stands each year to meet and greet the public whilst giving words of encouragement and advice. Last year I happened upon the exhibition completely by mistake as I was visiting the Baby Show with my two children, but after seeing hoards of cheerful and energetic people walking in the opposite direction my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to take a peek.

The atmosphere is electric and everywhere you look there are people smiling, laughing, working out, tasting nutritional and delicious foods, demonstrating gymnastics, deadlifts, fitness competitions, bikini contests and handing out free samples. From famous DJ’s to muscle bound brand ambassadors it’s both inspirational and motivational. Upon my first visit I was an uninformed single parent tentatively walking around in awe, I proudly returned this year as a level 2 gym instructor and am currently studying for my level 3 personal trainer qualification because the show totally changed my life; it made me realise how great fitness makes me feel and how I have the ability to motivate and encourage others to lead a healthier happier lifestyle too.

I cannot recommend Bodypower more highly as you don’t have to be a fitness fanatic to attend because the doors are open to all ages and ability. Everything and anything that you can imagine or ask about fitness you can find all under one roof where a wealth of fitness apparel brands, home gym equipment, nutritional advisors, supplement suppliers, personal trainers and sports therapists are on hand to tend to your every need. As well as live demonstrations, stage shows and photo opportunities there are plenty of chances to win and sample products as well as buy new season releases at exclusive promotional prices and the freshly prepared protein packed food stalls are both mouthwatering and energy boosting for an afternoon of pure excitement.

I stayed for the entire weekend this time and still didn’t manage to see everything; the expo is absolutely huge so I’d recommend arriving early to beat the queues and booking a local hotel in advance to get a good deal if you’re staying over. There’s also an epic afterparty and host of famous faces who attend each year which included comedian Dapper Laughs, reality TV star Vicky Pattison and DJ Tom Zanetti to name but a few.
