GoNutrition Superfood Antioxidant Smoothie

Being vegan can sometimes make it hard to find nutritious, high energy, healthy supplements which don’t contain dairy, as everything seems to revolve around milk these days. I’ve been a huge fan of GoNutrition since I started bodybuilding a few years ago and am ecstatic to have found a delicious vegan-friendy superfood smoothie in their online store.

Our diet can benefit from plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables daily but we don’t always have the time, ingredients or enthusiasm to prepare such elaborate meals, which is where a superfood smoothie is not only convenient but deliciously moreish too. The smoothie is packed with essential vitamins and minerals which you can easily add a scoop of protein powder to for the perfect post-workout recovery shake.

The GoNutrition smoothie bundle comes complete with 75g of Freeze Dried Banana Pieces, 100g of Freeze Dried Banana Powder, 250g of Flaxseed Powder, 100g of Organic Wheatgrass Powder and 250g of Kale Powder to provide twelve large smoothies or twenty-four servings. It’s super quick and easy to prepare a smoothie as I spoon all of my ingredients directly into my blender and whizz it up for 45seconds before pouring it into a glass.

You can adapt this recipe to suit your taste and needs, however I’ve stuck to the basic recipe and used the recommended ½ tbsp Banana Powder, 1 tbsp Banana Pieces, 8 medium Scoops Flaxseed Powder, ½ tbsp Wheatgrass Powder, 1 tbsp Kale Powder. You can also use ½ Cup Greek Yogurt if you wish. As I’m vegan I’ve used chilled organic oat milk instead of natural yogurt, but soy milk, water or skimmed milk would work equally well and you can use as much as you like to achieve the consistency you enjoy.

The oat milk is light and creamy and when mixed with the banana and greens it takes on a beautifully thick and fluffy texture with a fruity mellow banana taste like those foam banana sweets from the cinema. It’s amazingly filling and has such a luscious green colour which I loving having as a post-workout recovery snack before dinner with a scoop of protein powder. And you don’t only have to make smoothies with the ingredients as they also work great for baking and stirring into sauces and shakes to up the nutritional content of your meals. Healthy and satisfies those sugar cravings; a winning combination!
