We chose Mencap as our charity to raise funds and awareness for this year when we held our annual free family funday for the public. Mencap works with people with a learning disability to change laws, challenge prejudice and support them to live their lives as they choose, which is something that we feel strongly about. Although we do not have a direct connection to any friends or family members with learning disabilities, we believe that everybody has a right to be treated with respect, be given help and support when it is needed and allowed to live their life without feeling any less of a person or bullied for having a disability.

We are fortunate to be the parents of a beautiful and healthy daughter and realise that everyday babies are born with learning disabilities that will change their lives forever and nothing should ever be taken for granted. We wanted to raise funds and awareness for this reason and hope that you too will help to support this worthwhile charity by making donations, volunteering your time, passing on information to others or taking a moment to read about the fantastic work that they do.
We can all make a difference to help others to have independence and confidence in their lives, and it’s a gift that is absolutely priceless.
