Getting Motivated To Stay Fit & Healthy

If you have decided that now is the time to get fit and healthy then you have certainly come to the right place! At the start of a fitness journey we all have the best intentions, however as time goes on it can be easy to fall into the rut of skipping workout routines and not being as healthy as we first intended. Here I’ve put together some top tips on how to get the motivation that you need to stay fit and healthy…

Getting Motivated To Stay Fit & Healthy

Switch Up Your Workout Routines

There is no denying that one of the main reasons why people struggle in terms of motivation is because they get bored and give up. It can be tiring doing the same workout routine all of the time. Does this sound familiar? If so, why not switch it up? There are so many different types of exercise and workout options available today. From pilates reformer and CrossFit to team sports and dance classes; there are so many things that you can enjoy, you just have to give them a try. If you don’t like the exercise you have chosen it’s ok, just move onto the next until you find something that works for you. Half of the fun is in trying something new and stepping out of habit and routine.

Write Down Your Reasons For Wanting To Be Healthy

I find something that really helps to keep me on track is to write down my reasons for wanting to be healthy. This activity in itself will help to renew your enthusiasm and motivation and remind you of why you started. Whenever you are feeling down and like you don’t want to workout, you can read your reasons for wanting to get fit and this will help to spur you on and keep your end goal in mine.

Schedule Exercise Into Your Routine

If you skip an exercise routine it can often be because of a lack of time – or at least this is what we tell ourselves. However, if you schedule time to fit exercise into your daily routine then you’ll will have no reason to run out of time and you’re more likely to succeed. How does walking to work every Tuesday and Thursday morning sound? Or going to the gym on a Friday lunchtime in preparation for the weekend? If it’s in your diary you’re more likely to stick to it!

Join Fitness Forums Or Get A Fitness Buddy

Another tip to help you get motivated is to find a fitness buddy. Working out is always more fun when you do it with somebody else as you can really feed off each others energy. Not only will you be able to enjoy your time together in the gym but you can help and support each other too which helps to build confidence as you progress.

Whenever someone doesn’t feel like going to the gym, the other person can lift them back up again and you can keep each other on track. If you do not know anyone who wants to get into fitness then another good option is to join a fitness forum. There are a lot of fitness forums online where you can connect with people that are on the same journey as you and you will be able to read helpful tips and ask questions, as well as getting support when you are not feeling so motivated.

Hopefully, you now feel more confident about achieving your health and fitness goals. As you can see, there are a number of different ways that you can go about it to ensure that you stay focused and motivated throughout.
