Better Than Foods: Easier, Healthier Meals In An Instant

Better Than Foods offer a variety of pre-cooked pasta, noodles, and rice products made from konjac, a plant that is grown in Asia. If you haven’t heard of Konjac before then be prepared to open a whole new door to good health! Konjac is low calorie, fat free, gluten free, and good source of fibre which has transformed mealtimes for myself and my family entirely.

Better Than Foods products cook in just one minute in either the microwave or pan, making them an incredibly convenient and healthy option for busy people wishing to lead a more healthier life and support fitness and weight loss goals. I’ve stocked up on their 9kcal rice and noodles, organic panela sugar and organic tumeric paste for which I’ll whipped up a few quick and easy meals for my family here.

With their products ranging in organic, low calorie, gluten free, wheat free, sugar free, fat free, low GI, unrefined, zero carbs and vegan friendly, my dietary requirements are met in an instant. It can be all too easy to over consume carbs on a plant based diet, or get stuck in a rut at meal times in favour of processed goods which are quick and convenient to go from freezer to fork without considering the nutritional benefits.

I’ve switched up my store cupboard staples to organic Konjac and oat flour Better Than noodles and rice, which contain a minuscule 9 calories per 100g; compared to pasta (131kcal per 100g) and white rice (130kcal per 100g), not only can I enjoy the benefits of 0g fat, 0g saturates, 0g sugar and 0g salt, but being cooked to perfection and ready in a couple of minutes with a light and delicious texture, I think I’ll now struggle toever go back to heavy, bloating, 20-40mins cook time carbs.

The Nutritional Benefits Of Konjac:

Konjac is a root vegetable that is high in glucomannan, a type of fiber. Glucomannan has been shown to have a number of health benefits, including:

  • Weight loss: Glucomannan can help you feel full and reduce your appetite, which can lead to weight loss
  • Blood sugar control: Glucomannan may help to regulate blood sugar levels
  • Digestive health: Glucomannan can help to promote healthy digestion

In addition to the benefits of glucomannan, konjac is also a good source of fibre. Fibre is important for digestive health and can also help to lower cholesterol levels.

Better Than Foods Products:

  • Noodles: A popular konjac noodle option. These are low in calories and fat as well as being a good source of fibre.
  • Rice: Konjac rice is another low-calorie, fat-free, and gluten-free option. It is also a good source of fibre and cooks in just one minute.
  • Panela sugar: Allulose is a rare sugar found in fruits like figs and raisins. It is low in calories and does not raise blood sugar levels.
  • Organic turmeric paste: Turmeric is a spice that has been shown to have a number of health benefits, including reducing inflammation and improving cognitive function.

To accompany my rice which heats in the microwave or pan in one minute, I’ve rustled up a chickpea curry with organic tumeric paste which is made from raw tumeric root and can be used in any recipe or hot drink for an instant health kick. Roughly chopping broccoli, green beans, carrot, ginger, garlic and onions into a pan with a tin of chickpeas and teaspoon of tumeric paste, a 5min flash fry makes this such a quick and delicious meal.

For my noodles, which again heat in two minutes in a pan or microwave, I pan fried some red pepper, broccoli, onion, carrot, a green chilli and garlic in vegetable stock, until al dente, with a drizzle of soy sauce to season with this meal going from fridge to plate in 5mins. Each sachet of rice and noodles serve 2-3 portions and I’ve kept the other half of my curry in the fridge for meal prep.

Finally, their organic Panela sugar is 100% unrefined with natural minerals and is perfect for adding to drinks, treats and desserts. If you have a sweet tooth for tea, coffee or snacks then it’s a fantastic alternative to processed supermarket sugars and can help to steer you towards a healthier diet and lifestyle – it’s the little health swaps that add up to big change with time!

Better Than Foods have such convenient and healthy food options for people looking to explore and enjoy a low-calorie, fat-free, and gluten-free diet. How will you enjoy yours?
