Being vegan I haven’t eaten cereal since I was a child when I used to merrily heap several teaspoons of sugar over a Weetabix and generous slug of full fat milk of a morning. Typically I now have a protein shake for breakfast as a quick and convenient meal but on days when I need a bit of extra texture and range of flavour a bowl of granola goes down a treat with my new found favourite being these Sweet Greens from Planet Organic.
Proudly boasting a high protein content, low carbs, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, grain free, no refined sugar and vegan friendly it’s no wonder this nutrient rich breakfast is the preference of many. Consisting of wholesome nuts, seeds, chia seeds, coconut and superfoods which have been slow-baked with low GI coconut sugar this organic granola helps to maintain sugar levels and fuel the body the paleo way.
Each moreish mouthful is a feast for the senses from creamy coconut chips to chewy chopped dates, sunflower seeds, cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds, rich Brazil nuts, dried banana flakes, almonds, milled linseed, chia seeds, wheatgrass powder, barley grass powder and spirulina for a quick and convenient meal containing easily-digestible protein, amino acids, iron and vitamin B12. I prefer to nibble my granola as a dry snack but if you’re looking for a fresh and filling breakfast you can accompany it with a splash of almond milk, dollop of coconut yoghurt and sprinkling of fresh seasonal berries.
