Now I don’t like to brag, but I was pretty good at dominoes as a child with my swanky smooth black tiles in a pretty wooden carved box. My grandmother introduced me to bingo a few years after and my adrenaline levels rose at the thought of getting the first line or full house. So you can imagine the chaos and tension of a friendly weekend game of ‘snap’ at my house with my two children, as we huddle around the dining table and play cards for a little extra pocket money, it’s great for enhancing math skills and fast thinking too. For the past few years I’ve seen increasing press about the world of poker and decided to see what all of the fuss was about. Holy moly is this the ultimate adrenaline rush or what!? I stumbled upon a live poker tournament series called $100k Super High Roller Poker where the buy-in fee is a cool $100,000 simply to get a seat at a table to play against the finest poker players in the world. The 10th anniversary poker series stars some mega players such as Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, Steve O’Dwyer and Ike Haxton, with cameo appearances from Phil Hellmuth and Tom Dwan with a prize pool of $5.7m. That’s five point seven million dollars, as I’m digesting that I’m already virtually spending it in my mind, mansions, yachts and sports cars in paradise please. Poker can really earn you mega bucks, and it is so addictive to watch as there’s also a feature table line-up of Tom Dwan, Antonio Esfandiari, ElkY, Dan Shak, Steve O’Dwyer, Vivek Rajkumar and JC Alvarado. Now I seriously need to start taking lessons!
