When it comes to fashion, hair colours change as quickly as the seasons hottest trends for which a trip to the hairdressers can be time-consuming and pricey, if like me, you fancy frequent change.
That’s where wigs come in for the convenience of switching hair cuts, colours and styles in seconds whether you want to jazz up an outfit or try out a new look before making the commitment of going to the salon. So I thought I’d share with you my latest fashion haul at SoLolita and a few new looks that I’ve been trying out…
Made from high-temperature silk these beautiful wigs vary in length from short to medium and long, can be straight or curly and with or without a fringe. Naturally my hair grows at an angle which means that I can never have a fringe and it really limits how I can style my hair.
It’s nice to be able to have bounce, body, length, thickness and shine in bright and beautiful colours that would have otherwise been dull, limp or too short if I’d have attempted the same with my own hair and some dye.
Wigs are super comfortable and an instant way to brighten up any look or occasion with more influencers and celebrities preferring them over expensive hair extensions and clip-ins which can weaken, break and damage your hair.
To fit a wig you simply wrap your own hair up into a net to keep it out of the way and adjust the elasticated straps inside of the wig to fit your head. This way your wig will stay perfectly in place whether you jump about, do handstands or put on a cap, as it sits comfortably in place without rubbing, itching or moving about.
Wigs can be made from a variety of different materials, even human hair, and most can be heat styled up to a high temperature. Personally I just leave my wigs as they are and keep them stored in my wardrobe inside of a protective net to prevent them from knotting up or getting dirty.
Seeing as wigs come in all different shapes, sizes, colours, cuts and styles I don’t feel the need to straighten or curl what I already have to make it into a different style because they already come perfectly prepared and ready to wear.
Putting on a wig is so quick and easy and instantly completes an outfit, looking far more precise and pristine than my own hair whilst having to faff around with straighteners, extensions, brushes and hair spray.
Seeing as I’ve recently changed my natural hair colour from being a blonde to a redhead, I’ve given a lot of thought to the colour and length that I am now and looked through so many magazines and social media profiles to find inspiration for my new hair. Trying on a wig is a great way to test skin tone against a new cut and colour before making a more permanent commitment and it’s also a whole lot of fun!
